Below is a list of the most common dishwasher problems and how to repair them:

1. Your Dishwasher Is Not Filling Up With Water

A dishwasher that is not filling up with water is useless; you cannot use it to wash dishes. When you turn the dishwasher on but it failed to fill with water, it may be due to two problems:

The first thing you should check is the water supply, there may be a problem with the water supply and the second issue may be the water is draining too soon.

The first thing to do is to check whether the hot water supply valve is turned on. This is usually located under the kitchen sink. Note that this is unlikely to be the culprit if you haven’t turned it off recently. However, it still makes sense to check it anyway.

If the hot water valve is not the fault, you will need to inspect the dishwasher’s float assembly located in the base of the tub near the front.  Check to see if there is any obstruction in the float assembly that might be preventing it from working properly. If this doesn’t solve the problem, or you have difficulty fixing it, it is time to call the professional. Call Gilbert Appliances and Dishwasher Repair to come to your location and fix the problem immediately.

2. Your Dishwasher is Making a Lot of Noise

Most dishwashers make noise when you are using them unless you have an ultra-quiet dishwasher. However, if the noise becomes abnormal, you may have a problem with your dishwasher.  The problem may be a defective pump, or you need to change the wash arm seal or bearing ring.  Another possibility is that the spray arms are not turning properly and they are hitting racks or dishes. If you have any of these problems, you need to replace the faulty part. We can send a technician to your location with a good part to help you replace it in an as few minutes as possible.

3. Your Dishwasher Doesn’t Drain

When you notice this problem, you need to take care of it immediately due to the risk of flooding. To fix this problem, check to see if there are blockages in the drain hose under the kitchen sink leading to the dishwasher. If there are no blockages, then you need check another part. Turn off your dishwasher and give it enough time to cool down. Gently remove the strainer located under the spray arm and wash it clean.  If your dishwasher doesn’t still work after this, call Gilbert Appliances Repair immediately because there’s a clog somewhere in the drain line that might be harder to fix.

When you notice this problem, check the drainage hose to ensure there are no cracks or other damage. The leakage could also be as a result of a defective pump or pump seal. If the problem is too much, replace the seal.

5. Your Dishwasher Won’t Start

Nobody wants to experience a dishwasher that won’t start. It is very frustrating experience. When this happen, take a look at fuses and circuit breakers to ensure that they are properly connected and not blown or tripped.  Another possibility may be due to a faulty door latch.
